I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Midwifery from The University of Tehran School of Medical Sciences and had worked as a registered midwife in Iran from 1996 to 2009 and conducted more than 1000 deliveries. My last position before moving to Canada was instructor and faculty member at Azad University’s Department of Midwifery.
After moving to Canada, I received my Canadian accreditation through the University of British Columbia MMBP program. I have been working as a registered midwife in BC since 2012 and was honoured to welcome about 600 babies at surrey memorial hospital. I am committed to providing holistic care to families, emphasizing woman-centred care by supporting mothers’ informed decisions.
I have been able to connect, with women and their families, at some of the most significant moments of their lives. Supporting them through their journey to motherhood, acting as their advocate and have been privileged to share in their joy of becoming parents.
“Breastfeeding support isn’t just help—it’s hope, strength, and connection.”
Simran Sanghera
RN, IBCLC
I graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2022 and began my career in healthcare as part of the Best Beginnings Public Health team. I also have worked as one of the lactation consultants at Surrey Memorial Hospital. In these roles, I work closely with families from pregnancy through the postpartum period, providing guidance, education, and hands-on support to promote healthy outcomes for both parents and their babies.
Expanding my knowledge in lactation, I completed the Douglas College Breast/Chestfeeding Course and achieved certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). These experiences allowed me to support families through a range of feeding challenges, while celebrating the many triumphs that come with establishing a successful feeding relationship.
My practice is rooted in empathy, empowerment, and evidence-informed care. I meet families where they are, recognizing that every journey is unique, and work alongside them to create personalized plans that align with their infant feeding goals. I strive to build confidence in parents by providing not only practical tools and strategies but also emotional support during this vulnerable and transformative time.
At Surrey Breastfeeding Clinic, I look forward to supporting families through individualized lactation consultations and breastfeeding classes, helping them feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout their infant feeding journey.
